Schedule will be released next week!
We’ve been working on selecting the best talks for SOTM12 and we’re almost ready to release the schedule. Visit the site again next week to have a look at the program!
Here’s a sneak peek on what to expect:
Since we’re in Japan it seemed right to have an entire day dedicated to Crisis related OpenStreetMap talks. Kinya Inoue, who himself is from Fukushima, will tell you about mapping before and after the tsunami, even about mapping radiation levels. Arlene Ducao will tell you about OpenIR, a web application offering geo-located infrared data as on-demand map layers. We will have Kate Chapman telling you about the achievements made by HOT, the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team and how you can participate.
But besides crisis response there’s tons of other stuff:
Ryan Peterson will talk about Traffic information on OSM. Tim Waters will talk about Addiction to OSM, also known as OCOSMD (Obsessive-Compulsive OpenStreetMap Disorder). There is a tech talk by Frederik Ramm on ‘Optimising the Mapnik/osm2pgsql Rendering Toolchain’. We have routing talks by Chine-hung Liu on Taiwan’s Kaohsiung City Bus Routing system and Dennis Luxen on routing with the daily planet.
